The Miltitary and the Police demand a high price !!!
This must be the "Kickback" for their agreement to support the government .

Kevin - have you wondered if you or I are on the list of 184,450 requiring the 184,450 plastic handcuffs. As plastic handcuffs are in reality 2 strap ties and I just bought a big bag of around 100 for about 60Bt that makes a pair worth 1.2 Bt. Who's going to pockett the 33.8 baht on this one.

Good to see this country has got it's priorities right. 5 billion on a military that doesn't need or deserve what is being bought. 81 million on an underfunded ill-equiped demoralised police force that could finally shake off the corruption that bedevils it if only they were properly paid, trained and equiped.

I despair. Nothing has changed or ever will.

Ricefield, we are in agreement about the military here.
It's so sad though that while Thaksin may have had many good ideas he just couldn't resist grabbing as much money as he could from anywhere he could thus destroying his credibility.
His greed also ruined the hopes of millions desperatly in need of change.

mustang67 - They gotta beef up the military to counter the threat from the military.

Remember the fugitive convicted PM who cut the military budget a few years in a row and then was deposed in a coup. And then the Junta raising their budget by huge volumes under their watch. The Democrats are just allowing the armed forces to have what they want for fear of the same fate as the TRT.

The biggest threat to Internal security in Thailand is the very security that is supposed to protect our security.

What an absurd ridiculous waste of money.
It must have gone like this
Yes, Mr Abhisit we will support you, just as long as we can have our new toys.
There could be no better way to demonstrate who really runs this country.
Bubba excuse me for being such an optimist.

ONE submarine??? Ridiculous. The economies of scale of training, crew and vessel rotation, support, maintenance, etc. are therefore totally absent. Making it completely uneconomical. Then of course there is the question of why it is even needed.

You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried. Living in Thailand is like being in a Marx Brothers movie.
