Transport Minister Sohpon Zarum said he has no plans to sack State Railways of Thailand (SRT) governor Yutthana Thapcharoen over the train derailment that killed eight people and injured another 88 in Prachuap Khiri Khan on Monday.
Although Mr Yutthana will not be sacked, there needs to be a revision of the working relationship between the government, SRT management and its union, Mr Sohpon said.
It is also necessary to have quality checks on the trains' engines to make sure that they function well, he added.
The cabinet is expected to discuss the accident at its meeting today.
The southern lkine, which was closed by the accident, reopened on Tuesday morning after the train wreckage was removed from the site near Khao Tao station in the resort town of Hua Hin.
