ISA to be used in Bangkok Oct 15-25

The government will on Tuesday seek cabinet approval to impose the Internal Security Act in Bangkok's Dusit district from Oct 15 to 25, in response to the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship's plan to stage more major rallies.
The government today began enforcement of the ISA in Hua Hin, in Prachuap Khiri khan, and neighbouring Cha-am, in Petchaburi, under the security plan for the hosting of the 15th Asean Summit in the two towns from Oct 23 to 25. The ISA will be lifted on Oct 27.
Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said he wanted the security law to be also be imposed in Bangkok.
He said Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan will oversee security during the Asean summit.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva confirmed a proposal for use of the Internal Security Act in Dusit district would be tabled for cabinet approval tomorrow.
