The services of early all southern routes trains, except the Sungai Kolok-Bangkok, were suspended for the second day as train engines were being checked whether they can properly function.
“The train engine needs to be rechecked to ensure safety of passengers”, Wirun Sakaekun, chairman of labour union of the State Railway of Thailand’s Had Yai office, said on Saturday.
Mr Wirun can not tell when the southern trains can resume operations as he had no idea when the engines checking process would be completed.
Management of the SRT was now holding talks with train union’s key leaders to quickly end the problem.
