Bangkok South Criminal Court has on Saturday morning permitted police to detain Rakesh Saxena, former executive of the failed Bangkok Bank of Commerce (BBC), for 12 days as requested.

Pol Lt Gen Pongsaphat Pongcharoen, spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, said the police had last night completed the first round of investigation of Mr Saxena who denied all the charges. He said police opposed the suspect’s bail because Mr Saxena could again runaway.

Primer Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Saturday morning that he would allow Mr Saxena to meet him as requested. He wanted to know whether there were any politicians being involved in the BBC embezzlement cases.

Mr Saxena said after arriving on Thai soil on Friday night that he wanted to personally meet the prime minister to uncover all information about the embezzlement case.

This is ridiculous of Abhisit. He should keep well away and let the judicial process run its course. Otherwise there will be obvious fears of political interference in the outcome.

So, if I get arrested in Thailand and ask for an audience with the Prime Minister, he'll drop anything and come to my cell and meet me? Wow, he must have too much time on his hands.

This is something probably few politicians want to have going on at the moment. If he feels like he's going to take the fall, he may just pull the rest of them into the pit with him. There has to be a lot more people deeply involved in this he just was the bag man that got away is my thinking.

Abhisit must of loved cops and robbers as a kid because he wants to be police investigator all the time. Wonder how he's making out with the PAD case?

May be Saxena wants to say some Ex. PM's were involved thru their proxy's. Who knows. How it will all turn.
Money/Cash embezelment's have become a common affair in thailand.

In other countries they would say. PM interfering in ongoing investigations. I think Abhisit is prime minister of Thailand. Not the leader of a criminal investigation.

Sounds like he wants to cut a deal for leniency!
