Thaksin begins sending SMS to fans

Fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra sent his first cell phone text message to his supporters in Thailand on Sunday morning.

“I'm glad to talk with you. I'm living in Dubai and I'm well. I think of you and thank you for your moral support,” Thaksin's SMS message said.

Only one mobile phone operator was able to transmit his message.

The deposed premier also planned to launch 100 television channels via the internet in the afternoon.

One of the channels will allow people to contact him directly through SMS and his twitter website.

His legal advisor and former foreign minister, Noppadon Pattama, said the government should not panic as the channels will run without any political agenda.

Mr Noppadon said they will be for the benefits of Thai people, and will not affect national security.

The New Yorker - Yes Obama used it as well and so did Abhisit the difference is that Obama and Thaksin used their own or Campaign money for the exercise while our PM Abhisit let us pay for it out of government coffers.

When somebody is convicted of a crime and sentenced, and runs away, they are called a fugitive. News papers around the world call Thaksin a fugitive, it is hardly local "agenda driven" reporting.

Real democracy stems from education and I think no one can honestly say Thai education is up to par, let alone satisfactory enough to sustain a viable democracy.

I think people say you're paid, because Thaksin is so painfully transparent in his corruption, the fact that he pays off his supporters, and the fact that his only interest in "democracy" is grounded in the fact that its so weak in Thailand anyone with deep pockets can be "president for life." So how could you not see something so painfully, self-admittedly obvious.

If he came to someplace like Singapore (like Bush did) he would most likely complain that its "not fair." Lol, because Singaporeans aren't ignorant and Banana Republic dictators like Thaksin couldn't even manage a to find a job cleaning toilets.

Why does this tactic sound vaguely familiar?
Ah yes, President Obama used the same SMS tactic during his presidential campaign. Seems like Thaksin's been taking notes. Highly unoriginal indeed, to say the least.

The Pentagon is on record stating that they indeed pay people to blog, comment, and otherwise spread propaganda to offset the internet's ability to circumvent traditional means of propaganda.

Thaksin is on record working directly for the same globalist cartel that sets the Pentagon's agenda. Working for Carlye, with people like Bush, the Bin Laden's and the Saudis, there is no doubt that Thaksin follows a similar prescription of paying bloggers as wells as mobs.

UDD spends ALL of its time shilling for Thaksin and PTP members - and has YET to actually protest for things that might actually improve the "rural poor's" condition - things like stopping the coming EAC, improving education, and protecting farmers from Monsanto and free-trade.

Say what you will, but the truth stands there, ominously, drowning out your constant din of pro-Thaksin nonsense.

Choirco - For what little it's worth, I agree with you. The descriptors are used all too often in Thaksin's case for furthering an agenda, but from some of the comments there are people who can't seem to figure that out or have been swayed by them.

Thom - Before you comment about me being paid, I go to my mailbox every day but alas a check has never arrived and I'm very sure Khun Thaksin knows how to get hold of me if he ever had the urge.

Accusing others of being financially motivated to support a certain political POV Thom, must be from experience.

Because you were paid to sit in Suvarnabhum airport doesn't mean it applies to everyone else of certain political principles, especially democratic ones.

Yes Thom, my political bent in Disc. #1 is very obvious. I'm sure no-one would miss it.

To suggest however that one cannot have such a 'political bent' without underlying financial incentives is incorrect. That is a comment originating from cynicism.

I just happen to believe that Mr. Thaksin is being politically persecuted. I also believe that the Democracy Movement supports him for very good reason.

The one-million strong rally in BKK at the end of November will attest to that.

When is Mr Thaksin going to realize that after three + years he is doing nothing but making a pest of himself. He is a fugitive of justice and isn't man enough to stand up and take his punishment. Give it up Mr Thaksin, your time has past and you are now part of history in this great country. Do the crime, pay the time.

You write: This agenda-driven, media mandated use of the descriptor 'fugitive' preceding all references to Thaksin is getting tiresome and boringly repetitive."

The "descriptor" as you use it is correct. Taksin is a fugitive in literal legal usage.

You must be on the "fugitives" payroll as
    your political bent is obvious.
