Police were planning to arrest two or three more people over the spreading of unsubstantiated rumours about His Majesty the King's health that caused the stock market to plunge by 7.2 per cent on Oct 14 and 15.
Police arrested two people last week and another yesterday. They were charged under the 2007 Computer Crimes Act with posting misleading information which could pose a threat to national security.
The third suspect, Somjate Itthiworakul, told police he was aware that all the rumours were passing through the 'Prachatai' website, Central Investigation Bureau High-Tech Crime Centre commander Tha-ngai Prasajaksatru said.
The police discovered that Mr Somjate posted the information himself from his personal computer, but the rumour suspects were not connected and did not know each other.
The police would seek two or three more arrest warrants soon, Pol Lt-Gen Tha-ngai said.
All three suspects were released on bail of 100,000 baht each and were prohibited from going abroad
