Noppadon tells govt not to worry

The government should stop worrying about former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's appointment as Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's personal economic advisor, Thaksin's legal advisor Noppadon Pattama said on Thursday.

Mr Noppadon said Thaksin told him that he was honoured and happy to give economic advices.

He said there were many countries, besides Cambodia, that invited and appointed Thaksin as their advisor.

"The government should not be concerned or scared because this is not a political issue or about seeking asylum," the former foreign minister said.

Prime Minister Hun Sen decided to appoint Thaksin because he saw his value and capability. Mr Hun Sen can consider not sending Thaksin back to Thailand even if the Thai government planned to use the extradion treaty, he said.

"Prime Minister Hun Sen does not like the way the ruling Democrat government is working but the Thai-Cambodian relations are close as usual."

Mr Noppadon said he believed his boss would not use his relationship with Cambodia to pressure Thailand.

Thaksin will have a videoconference with Prime Minister Hun Sen soon, he said.

I think Phnom Penh's reaction is to response to what Bangkok have been doing to Cambodia. As they have said ''patient has its limit''. Previously, Cambodia always open any opportunity to discuss on border dispute within Cam-Thai which tend not to shift these issues to regional and international assistance, as the result Bangkok always delayed and ignored all the time. What is Bangkok thinking of Cambodia? Enemy, poorest neighbor that do not want to talk with?

    Incredible!
Both countries are showing excellent diplomatic competencies here. I am starting to worry about where this could end. This is about as professional as heating up to a title fight in boxing.
I fail to understand why Abhisit and his media outlets give Thaksin all this attention. Ignore him and focus on the real challenges with honest energy.

"Prime Minister Hun Sen does not like the way the ruling Democrat government is working but the Thai-Cambodian relations are close as usual." So is the Cambodian PM going to tell Thailand how to act in future ? He doesn't like the way Thailand is being ruled. Can we expect words of sage advice from this bloke ? I would suggest that Hun Sen pull his head in and worry about his own country before interferring elsewhere.

Mr. Noppadon Pattama is obviously not a very bright man. He fails to consider that Fugitive Thaksin has had privileged to very sensitive and secret information since he was the Prime Minister of Thailand. It is surprising that he does not see a violation of fiduciary duty at the very least.

Also, how can Mr. Noppadon Pattama claim that "Thai-Cambodian relations are close as usual." Obviously, he must not be very informed on current events as Thailand has just recalled its ambassador from Cambodia. You can expect that additional political maneuvers will be forthcoming.

Mr. Noppadon another of Mr. Thaksin elite friends, should travel with Mr. 1000 per cent perfect to all the countries in the world that like to have Mr. innocent as adviser.
Who cares that PM Hun Sen does not like the way the Democrat Government is ruling. Let him take care of giving his name to more roads and bridges in Cambodia, have only passed 400 places.
