Four killed in Yala mudslide

Four villagers, including two boys, were killed in a mudslide that swept over their house in a village in Bannang Sata district of Yala on Friday, police said.

The mudslide was caused by widespread and continuous rain across southern border provinces during the past two days.

Pol Col Sompien Eksomya, superintendent of Bannang Sata police, said rescuers plucked the bodies of the four villagers from the mud in the afternoon after a search of more than four hours.  They were identified as Assanai Atma, 28, Pafun Kraiwilas, 29, and their sons Korndanai, 5, and Kathawut, 3.
