Situation in the northeastern border province of Si Sa Ket remains normal and there was no tension between Thai and Cambodian troops deployed along the border, provincial governor Rapee Phongbuphakij said on Saturday.

The border trade at Sangam permanent border crossing opened as usual and people of the two countries continued coming for businesses and trading with out any sign of disruption, he added.

However, local people were advised to follow up news about the development of the situation closely in order to be well prepared for any possible incident.

It was reported that villagers in Bhumisalon border village nearby the Preah Vihear ancient temple of Cambodia had built 15 bunkers at the village school.

The bunkers are for safety of the school’s teachers and students in case the war between the two countries takes place.

My wife comes from a village in Sri Sa Khet, 15kms inside Thailand. She recalls as a child having to go to bomb shelters to avoid bombing, ie bombs landing in her village, from both the Khmer Rouge and Cambodian government during that sorry period in Cambodia's history. Her mother and father have both confirm her recollections.
With friends and relatives like that, who needs enemies. The bunkers are not about a PR spin, but real concerns born of the not so distant past.

of course the situation is normal. Thai people have nothing against Cambodia, moreover the people living on the border are at odds with the Abhisit government we have seen already that villagers turn violent against the yellow shirt crooks. This is a political game from a desperate government. A government that claims it is ready for new elections while they are in fact not. If elections were held today Thaksin allies would take 60% of the vote and would form a one party government. These actions have to be seen as nothing else than a misplaced manner to show the yellow shirts that this government is on their side. After all the democrats got probably 75% of the yellow shirt vote, those votes will go to the new party that PAD formed. All politicians stink but that politicians cannot even wash it off.

Cambodia will never attack Thailand. Thailand is not our enemy. But they are being so coward of our lands. If they dare to solve the problem legally and respect us, we will not be care of who is Thailand. You live your way, we live our way.

Anyway, we bless thailand all the best and we do not want anyone any returns.

I can assure you the local Cambodians do not care about Thailand than ourselves and our economy. No Thai embassy riot, i can guarantee.
