The country’s economy has already bottomed out and gross domestic product for next year is expected to be more than 3 per cent, Apisak Tantiworawong, chairman of the Thai Bankers Association, said.

Mr Apisak projected that the recovery in economy would make the policy interest of the Bank of Thailand increase by about 0.75 to 1 per cent.

Lending of financial institutions is also expected to go up by about 7 per cent.

Oh really? Apparently more Thai Bankers need to go back to Economics 101. Someday they will learn that the Thai Economy as well as the GDP is entirely dependent on the global economy - that has to recover, first, ans I think it unlikely to happen by 2010.

Is this the same +3% that Abhisit predicted for 2009 and which has disappeared in a puff of smoke (or should that be hot air!)? Has it been put back to 2010 like eveything else in Thailand?

Thai Bankers Association...yes the very same that started to change foreigners ATM use with a 150 baht fee

These HiSo clowns have no idea what the massive job loss's in the US and Europe means for Exports or Tourism..and it's not growth (just as China is seeing now..orders for next year are well down..but Thailand is always special and will beat everyone or so rumour has it)
