Varsity wary of revoking Hun Sen's PhD

Revoking the honorary degree awarded Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen by Ramkhamhaeng University would be a very serious matter, Ramkhamhaeng rector Kim Chaisansook said on Monday.

Mr Hun Sen was awardedan Honorary Doctorate in Political Science in the field of Foreign Relations by Ramkhamhaeng University in 2001.

"This is a big issue, especially when a country's leader is involved," Assoc Prof Kim said. "The university cannot decide this matter alone, but must consult the Foreign Ministry and the government."

He did not believe the Thai-Cambodian dispute was that serious yet. He likened it to two people frowning at each other.

"We have to think of the long-term consequences. Although some leaders may be disliked by others, Thailand and Cambodia still have mutual interests and not everything is negative," the rector said.

"But if the Thai government breaks off its ties with Cambodia completely and the two countries later become enemies, Ramkhamhaeng would have to revoke Mr Hun Sen's degree immediately.

euh...is it really fun that thailand try to get its own self naked in front of the international community this so many times within a few days interval? or is it just another thai weird way to build up extremist but stupid and nonsense nationalism? let's think of the most extreme move. cancel and revoke all and every degree awarded by any thai educational institutions to cambodian kids!
or let's make thailand a cambodian free zone!!! it's indeed "amazing thailand". well, sadly.

I think that University should not involve in this kind of thing. It is the political war, not education war.
One more thing is that It is not the Honor of Hun Sen to get this, but it is the honor of University to award such a world learder as Hun Sen. I learn that Hun Sen awarded a lot of PhD and Prizes. Take off one Honor Award is nothing for him, and him plus one does't make change

I think this degree honor is not important for Mr. Hun Sen.

Hey, it's only an "Honorary" degree which usually is given to any one with clout,money, a million seller music video, or a 2 headed monkey.

It's not "serious", it is silly.

One can love his country without find out more nonsense. Everyone must well understand that this is a vendetta between Hun Sen and PM Abhisit. They think they lose their faces if they recognize that they are wrong. You do not break diplomatic relations and captured settlements. Begin to equip almost for war. Just because Hun Sen makes Thaksin to his economic advisers.
Kind of like 40 years ago in between Honduras and Nicaragua when they start to attack each other after a football game.
Should be a court for arguing, headless and irresponsible prime ministers.

Is the degree honor to Hunsen or it's honor to the University and Hunsen?.......the University better not involve in this matter to be honirable to thosed graduated........
