About 450 police will be deployed at the yellow-shirt mass rally planned for Sanam Luang on Sunday, police said on Thursday.

The People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) announced plans for the demonstration on Tuesday, saying that it would be a show of force to "protect the country's integrity and protest against ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra".

The PAD said its supporters would rally against Thaksin on two issues -- his appointment as economic adviser to the Cambodian government, and for his comments about the monarch in an interview with The Times which appeared on the paper's website. His comments were deemed to be in contempt of the royal institution.

Police would be stationed around Sanam Luang, the Democracy Monument and the Royal Plaza from noon, a spokesman said.

The PAD says the rally will begin at 4pm.  Police expect up to 30,000 people at the protest.

350 to keep the safeguard of the residence of Bangkok from the thug PAD who shut down airports, government house, attacked NBT workers with weapons It is so good to see just how inept and out of touch this inept government is. Newin friends enjoy the next couple of years as that is about the extent of your parliamentary career will be since your betrayal and allowed this inept mob to ruin Thailand

The police expects 30,000 as reported. I wonder why only 350 police deployed? I wonder why ISA not invoked this time?

Is this government feeling that this PAD is a more peaceful one? Afterall what they did was only shutting down airports and holding thousands of tourists hostage, afterall they only block government house for months (but again not the government house of this government), etc.

Obviously this is a clear double standard of the government.

If and if this PAD demo ended up with casulty, I wonder who will be pointed at for responsibility? PAD? The government? No, no, no... it cannot be them, they are angels fighting for the country. It must be the Cambodia government, it must be Thaksin, it must be anyone else but the government and PAD.

Sound familiar? This is what happened since 2006.

Thailand needs to get rid off these Yellow shirts people. They are bad for the country and bad for Thai reputation. Better yet, get rid of the current government.

You agree with the PAD's motives and beliefs??
You really think that that PAD has the best intentions in mind for Thailand?

Do you even know what there intentions and beliefs are??

They want MORE military involement in political process.

    This is a good thing???

So you think that Thailand dose'nt deserve a real democracy?

Dont get me wrong, i do not like or support Taksin, but if he did wrong the law must be followed to oust him from government - a coup d'état is unacceptable.

18 coups (since 1932) later and nothing is better, democracy has had no chance to mature.

Thaksin is and was bad for Thailand, but he is not the root of all the problems Thailand is facing, which this goverment wants you to belive.

One of the reasons Abhisit is still where he is today is because he approved a huge budget increase (five billion baht) for the military, which will enable the military to buy a host of new weapons and even submarines.

With so many poor people in this country, would that money not be better spent on helping them improve there lives?

Thailand does not and will not have a true democracy if the military is invloved in due democratic process.

Everyone that reads this article I would like you all to be open minded about my next sentences. Not once in this article does it mention Mr.Thaksin as being a fugitive, criminal,or convicted of any crime. Even the PAD according to this article don't care about extraditing Mr.Thaksin or him coming home to serve a 2 year sentence. So why does Abby's government in just about every article this week say "All Thais" feel this and feel that? THE PAD DON'T CARE ABOUT EXTRADITING HIM!

Go ahead, the thugs is back on street again, they had destroyed whole nation economy and closed airports, held policemen and tourists hostagess, now they are back again..what will they destroys next? I wonder this government really care since some of those are among these people. If something goes wrong, just point figures toward Thaksin..he is the costs for all chaos! Forget what he had done for the country and how he had solved many issues including the nation debts, universal health care programs, and more for the poor..he bring hope where is no hope for Isan people, etc. If Bangkok Elites recognize Isan as Thai citizen or under dogs!?

Even I support the PAD's motives and believes; I still don't believe that they should ralley because it will damage the economy more and more. Personally, I believe that remaining quiet is better because the government and PAD currently have the same plan.
