Lawyer: Stop accusing Thaksin

Wichit Plangsrisakul, a lawyer of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, warned groups, individuals and the media to stop defaming Thaksin or face defamation charges.

Mr Wichit said there were groups that wanted to destroy the ex-country leader by exposing groundless information to general public.

He said Thaksin’s opponent tried to accuse Thaksin of having no loyalty to the high institution despite it is not true.

“If they don’t stop accusing the ex-premier, they will certainly face legal action”, the lawyer said.

(Thx for the defence of democracy [I think] Moonoi)

    TONY: "Elections don't constitute democracy"

Well, neither have the 18 coups in the last six decades succeeded in constituting democracy. If you have given the military sixty years of interference, why not give democracy a couple of decades to grow?

I know well the story of Hitler, and lost half my family in the camps so, out of respect to them I will refrain from getting involved in a discussion about this with you, who think you know better than anyone what nazism is.

But, the difference is the nazis were backed by the military so, in fact there were no democratic channels through which to fight back.

They also burned down the Reichstag and blamed it on the communists, who were rounded up, imprisoned and killed. The nazis also had extreme censorship in place and a government agency to oversee the printed word, and had a wonderful Haloween style book burning.

I have news for you Tony: ALL Democray is vote buyer. When a politician promises the rich not to raise taxes, when he (or she) promises to keep out foreigners (that is farang in your lingo, I imagine) or when a party leads the way to war after creating collective fear. And any time a politician speaks with supporters that is VOTE BUYING.

And please answer me this, because nobody has ever answered this; which is worse:

    1) selling your vote out of need, or;

    2) selling your vote out of greed?

If you are half the man you clim yourself to be your answer would be evident.

As far as your personal insults against me I prefer not getting into a mud slinging tit for tat.

PS I am no fan of Taksin, who is not to be trusted and certainly not Chavalit, Prem's previous right hand man.

I do though support democracy over military interventionism. And I believe it must be allowed to evolve in its own way. T

    Hello Tony,

You historical knowledge seems to fit on the back of a stamp. In Hitler’s Germany there was only one election after Hitler was made Chancellor in 1933. After that my friend elections became a foreign word in the German language. You are right that elections don’t constitute democracy. Thailand and the last elections are an example for it. The now PM was not elected by the people.

Fists full of money are at least something substantial for the people that receive the money. But what about politicians getting elected on the promise to support a certain policy and than changing their coats and joining the opposition? What a slap in the face of the electorate and what an election scums?

You should also read more foreign papers that have a look at Thai justice and other institutions. Maybe that will broaden your ‘historical and geopolitical understanding’ .

For the dwindling supporters of Thaksin I believe that they still will be enough to win elections if the unelected PM would not be afraid of calling them.

Dear Tony, I am definitly not a Bubba "fan", but please not again lessons how undemocratic democratic elections are, how actually counter-productive election are for a "democratic" society. "good is evil", the "truth is a lie" - greatings from 1984. - but we are lucky, we have you, you are in the know, you know how to handle democracy properly. we're just a bunch of stupid world citizens, lived on 5 continents, just speaking (more or less) 5 laguges and mabe are as stupid as soaked sponge to retire in thailand. Now let me say something realy stupid:
"The new fashists are not coming in a brown shirt!".
Toni, you are one of them. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as I have a chance to oppose you, in will do. and when people like you will be democratically elected, like hitler was elected, i will leave the country, before you kick me out or worse. easy as that.

    cheers!

What's it this man on Thaksins pay roll trying to intimidate, media and press.

When Thaksin himself has condemed the judicial system in Thailand, than why use the word and attempt of suing. And this lawyer knows that the new found alley / Friend (Thaksin has told that in Politics there are no friends) Hunsen has proclaimed that he has no respect for Thai judicial system and law, than why sue? This lawyer is a Thai man, and is he trying to sell the thoughts of Thai people or what.

Why not Thaksins men on pay roll, work with some dignity and use words with dignity.

Thaksin has dominance, and Thailand has allowed him to be dominant and stand as big as possible. But more he tries to be dominant in these unbecoming ways, he looses his permanance and success.

    What happened to Mussolini.

We all heard of Thaksins technolgy talk in Cambodia.Regarding the technology talk it was all like a school boy. Thaksin now stumbles for words, and he wants to convert paper into money.

We have some respects for Thaksin and we are losing respects because of his behaviour.
    Time is the best medecine.

Thaksin likes lecturing. But his english is poor and now he has become hazy in Thai also.
World is looking and hearing. Now Hunsen has kept his leg in a pit of a trap by himself. Time will onlty tell.

Bubba, did you know they had elections in Hitler's Germany, Saddam's Iraq, Kim Jong Ill II's North Korea, and even back in the Soviet Union? Elections don't constitute democracy. Elections are but a means to an end, and only if used properly.

Thaksin had a huge political machine running in Issan - it was quite easy to mobilize supporters. It was in many cases just handing fist-fulls of money out to people, but there is a more subtle way to buy votes as well, via village funds, promises made to individuals who fill quotas. I've seen it all. Its like taking a time-machine back to Tammny Hall.

You are either a paid shill or have the historical and geopolitical understandings of a child. Either way you are sad, but a good example as to how ignorance is democracy's greatest enemy. P.S. The violence and division has abated. Now the only people supporting Thaksin are paid mobs, shills, and cultists, in very dwindling numbers.

    Cheers!

Swedefarang - What do they teach in swedish schools ???
I have only been here since 2003 and have heard day after day about all the laws stopping farang fron owning more than48 or 49% of a Thai company. Is Singapore in Thailand ??
I seem to remember that this all started when thaksin sold his compony to a foriegn company and the made sure he did not pay any tax to Thailand. Robbing his own country!! Many stories about big contracts being given to his family and friends . . . . . I am sure this has nothing to do with the problems today. It must be the bad millitary that do not like Thaksin . . . . . because all the rest has nothing to do with it ?? or does it ??
Thaksin has for many years robbed the Thai people by ewading tax by straw companies abroad . . . shares being given . . . not sold to his is own kids . . . . there is so much this man has done against his own country and its people I can not understand why he thinks he can come back to power and to be trusted by the rest of the world !!!!

To swedenfarang - Wake up !!!!
Hiring thaksin to help the cambodian goverment was not a sign of wanting things to calm down !!!
thaksin is too blame for this . . . . no one else !
If he had any brains he would have known this to cause a lot of problems and said politly NO THANK YOU to the job . . . . . . . but instead he said YES knowing this would make things a lot worse.
All he thinks about is his own well being.Giving that interwiev which I understand was taped and then blaming the newspaper just show that he has lost all credebility.
How is a wanted convicted criminal supossed to take anyone to court for slander ?? would he not have to show up himself ??? or would Thai courts let him do this while plotting to hurt Thailand from abroad ??

Here we go again. This unelected "so called" democratic govt. has stooped so low and set in motion the politics of vengeance, double standards against Thaksin. He was one of the elites and now he is in the dog house because he realized that he was not going to get a fair shake in the courts. The powers that be want to silence him for good but he outsmarted them because he has people on the inside who keep him abreast of the ploys and tactics concocted against him by the powers that be behind this present govt.

This is supposed to be a buddhist country but it has resorted to threats, slander, and behind the scenes manuevering to defame him, and destroy him in any and every manner possible. It matters not what he has done or what the past shows, what matters is that by resorting to a coup-de-tat, Thailand has taken a huge step back and will not be able to recover.
