Lawyer: Stop accusing Thaksin

  • Published: 14/11/2009 at 04:28 PM
  • Online news:

Wichit Plangsrisakul, a lawyer of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, warned groups, individuals and the media to stop defaming Thaksin or face defamation charges.

Mr Wichit said there were groups that wanted to destroy the ex-country leader by exposing groundless information to general public.

He said Thaksin’s opponent tried to accuse Thaksin of having no loyalty to the high institution despite it is not true.

“If they don’t stop accusing the ex-premier, they will certainly face legal action”, the lawyer said.

    True views from the ex-Atty.
Their are many baseless facts against Thaksin. Why in the world does Apisit need to go through all this fiasco? does it come from his bosses? Is this for his popularity? I think Thailand will be the loser at the end of this ordeal.
Thailand has much more to lose than Cambodia. Foreign Travelers will still go to Cambodia via other airports avoiding the domestic political mess.
Also a news reported today claims that Thailand will be at a disadvantage if they cancelled the MOU signed with Cambodia over the oil fields...
All the Apisit proponents should look at their own past & integrity before they open their mouth.

Now it raise an issue in my head? What will the Government do when caught Thaksin and put him in prison? Will everything become peace after that. Then the real problem start. We have the Red Shirts protesting once a month now. So they will be on the streets throughout Thailand every weekend. Should we call the ISA or a State of Emergency every time? Since I do not think the Red Shirts will be nicer if they know that their Guru is in prison.
What will foreign tourists and investors in Thailand say.
Will they invest and spend their money in Thailand?

The PM seems to believe that persuing Thaksin is a neccessary thing to do to help Thailand. Doesn't this just further devide Thai society between those who are for Thaksin and those who are against. Its like chasing a fly only to spill the whole meal on the floor. Thailand seems to make eveything personal which leads to a "depending on who you know" society that determines what you get or don't get based on who you know. Such an approach is fertile ground for corruption and injustice to become indemic. Most Thais long for national unity and a focus on the real problems confronting Thailand rather than continual personal wars between opposition politicians and factions. For the sake of all good Thais I hope the lesser distractions can be laid aside so the bigger more important problems can be addressed.

Certainly, that lawyer has right in his statement.
Government ministers and even Prime Minister, has got Thaksin in the brain. They are willing to do anything in order to capture him.
Although it costs in relations to its neighbor Cambodia. This Government can probably never get back what they lost now in friendship with Cambodia.
It will soon come bitter comments from businessmen who making and doing business with the country.
Cambodia is a poor country. They will need to rebuild the country in the future. Do you think they will ask Thailand? How many jobs will be lost because of this?
Thailand's problems are not Thaksin. Thailand's problem is that no reigns this country at the moment. Instead, keep it on and chasing a ghost
