Bhumjaithai Party de facto leader and banned politician Newin Chidchob on Monday called on fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to ask the Cambodian government to release the Thai engineer who was arrested on spy charges.

The Cambodian police arrested 31-year-old engineer Siwarak Chothipong last Wedneday for allegedly stealing flight information of Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen and his new economic advisor Thaksin. Mr Siwarak was working for Cambodian Air Traffic Services (CATS).

"Thaksin is trusted by Prime Minister Hun Sen. He should use his close relationship with Cambodia to help the Thai engineer, if he still thinks he represents Thai people and considers himself a Thai person," Thaksin's former right-hand man Newin said.

Mr Newin said he will not phone Thaksin to beg for his help.

When reporters asked whether the House meeting was called off last week because many Puea Thai MPs visited Phnom Penh to meet Thaksin, Mr Newin said the next House meeting should be held in Cambodia's capital.

Newin? This is politics as usual. He smells the wind. As long as political rules permit, Newin can lead his people to the winner side. It is good to "lead de facto" a smaller political party that can tip the balance between the Democrats and Puae Thai.
Newin had to play his hand, otherwise he is not a Thai politician.

Newin is using the newspaper instead of the telephone. So much more private. Perhaps he is thinking of changing sides.

The headline reads,"Newin begs Thaksin to help engineer" Then in the article, it reads, "Mr.Newin will not phone Thaksin to beg for his help" So which is it????? Does this person actually make a living as a writer?

Why should Thaksin have to help . It was all his doing in the first place. He is just a media monger.

Newin doesn't see the game is obvious. A ridiculous arrest for "spying" and Thaksin descending as the hero to save the poor guy. Another soap opera. So sweet, I'm crying.

Yes Khun Newin if you get down on your knees, face Mecca, beg and give 40 of your Bhumjaithai Party members to the Puea Thai party. Then your wish will be granted. Who the hell started this fracas.?? Unbelievable, Amazing Thailand. Traitors and more Traitors just for power and money.

I readily believe that Newin is desperate for attention, no that his former friend gets all. However, this is strictly off the rocker.

I don't know how else Newin could have added so much in so little words and in so little time to his already very poor reputation.

Petty those who have lost touch with reality. Unless being ridiculous is their passion.
