The government might not need to inject 200 billion baht of foreign loan money into its second round economic stimulus if the economy continues to recover next year, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Thursday.

"If the economy is still on the road to recovery next year, the public debt level should return to normal within five to seven years," he said.

However, he said, the country cannot overlook long-term issues such as energy, the environment, food and finance. The government has to be prepared to cope with potential long-term problems.

"The political uncertainty is likely to affect economic growth next year. All sides are entitled to different opinions, but they must not resort to violence to solve problems," Mr Abhisit said.

2 days ago, you stated that the economy will grow 3% in the first part of 2010. Earlier this year, you and Korn/Kervokian stated many times that the economy would grow by 3% in 2009.

Now, you are saying "if" the economy continues to recover next year. When are you going to make up your mind Mr. Highly Educated Oxford?
