Tea Banh: There is no secret tape

The Cambodian government has no secret audio recording of Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya ordering an official of Thai embassy in Phnom Penh to obtain the flight schedule of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, as claimed by a Puea Thai MP, Cambodian deputy prime minister and defence minister Gen Tea Banh, asserted on Friday.

“I think the person who exposed this case has an ill-intention or a hidden agenda. The person might want to incite war between the two countries and then put the blame on Cambodia,” Gen Tea Banh said in an interview published in the  Thai-language Kom Chad Luek newspaper

The Cambodian defence minister said that military relations between Thailand and Cambodia remain intact.

He refused to comment on the arrest of Sivarak Chutiphong, a Thai employed by Cambodia Air Traffic Services who has been charged with spying. He said  the case is still being investigated according to Cambodian legal procedure.

Puea Thai MP Jatuporn Prompan on Wednesday claimed that the Cambodian government had a recording of Mr Kasit instructing the Thai first secretary at the embassy to obtain Thaksin's flight plan. He did not say how he knew this.

Mr Kasit yesterday denied he had given such an order and challenged Mr Jatuporn to produce the secret tape.

Wow, Crow discussion 15. You are the man. I more than 100 percent agree with you. Mr Ricefield is not the only one who holds on to anything.

Actually Ricefield (14) I think that many sane people believe both of them as they certainly have more creditability than the constantly discredited Jatuporn Prompan.

I think the issue here is that people like yourself, members of the Thaksin lovefest, who consistently defend anything related to the man at the expense of critical thought and reason, so want the tape to be true to validate your belief in the almighty. You want the tape! You need the tape! And when the Thaksin stooges cannot produce you make vague references to conspiracies, insinuating that the truth is too big to allow it to come out, thus validating your unswerving devotion to the self proclaimed demigod.

Thailand categorically denied spying on Cambodia and Cambodia has categorically denied counter spying on Thailand. Does any sane individual believe either of them. Nope, there was a spying incident and there is a tape, but everyone is mum on the incidents for obvious reasons.

I love the Cambodian Minister's comment about the possible intentions of the person who made the original claim.

So Mr Jatuporn, where's your proof? And what was your agenda? A young Thai faces prison and a ruined life because of your loose tongue. You've dug a huge hole and it will be fascinating to see how you get out of this one. It will be interesting to see how Thaksin sorts this one out. He will need to be seen to be helpful to the imprisoned Thai, but at the expense of the face of an old croney?? I know, it was all a misunderstanding!!

Well, thought all along that Jatuporn Promphan is Cambodia's government spokesman or foreign minister. How much richer could he be in trumpeting this mother of all secrets? It would be interesting to see how Jatuporn will rebut the flat denial of Gen. Tea Banh, a friend of his master on the run.

There will be no more credibility for Jutoporn if there is no tape. I agree with Observer, there must be some truth in this tape story.

Which reminds me... What happened to the case of the 'doctored' tape on which we supposedly could here Abhisit order violence against the Red Shirts (in April).

It's been extremely silent around all those high profile arrests...

    Any fair trials lately?

That was another thing created by Jatuporn and denied by Cambodian officials. Anyway who can believe in anything Jatuporn says. It would be a good thing if Jatuporn's bail be revoked.
