Liverpool and Manchester City had to settle for a point apiece after a 2-2 draw at Anfield that did little for either club's hopes of getting back into the Premier League's top four.
The draw means Liverpool have now won only once in 10 matches in all competitions and left them ten points adrift of leaders Chelsea, who were due to face Wolves later on Saturday.
For City, it was a sixth successive draw in the league and another blow to their hopes of challenging Chelsea and Manchester United for the title.
All the goals in a scrappy encounter came after the interval.
Martin Skrtel volleyed Liverpool into the lead five minutes into the second half.
Emmanuel Adebayor headed City back on to level terms and Stephen Ireland gave the visitors the lead only for substitute Yossi Benayoun to equalise barely a minute later.
