The dinner attended by representatives of the Democrat Party's coalition partners on Monday night had nothing to do with politics and it was not aimed at putting pressure on the Democrat party, Somsak Prissanananthakul, a key figure of Chartthai Pattana Party said on Tuesday.
He said the meeting of coalition partners was arranged by Newin Chidchob, the leader of the influential Friends of Newin faction in the Bhumjaithai Party.
“Democrat Party secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban was also invited, but he was not available to attend,” said Mr Somsak.
He denied as groundless a report that the Democrat's coalition partners were unhappy with the latest reshuffle of high ranking police officers bcause their men were not appointed to important positions and the dinner meeting was to put pressure on the prime minister's party.
“All coalition partners still support the government and will continue working to settle the pressing problems besetting the country,” Mr Somsak said.
