Suthep wants tighter security

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban instructed security personnel and intelligence units to quickly find and arrest a group of people who are trying to create violence in the country.

"The security measures at present can still handle the overall situation but officials must be more cautious and stringent," Mr Suthep said on Sunday.

Security personnel together with intelligent units need to monitor the situation closely to prevent a certain group of people from creating violence in public places again, the deputy premier in charge of security affairs said.

He said the government will need to gather experts to help investigate the recent violent incidents and the perpetrators must be arrested and penalised.

"I think there are a certain group of people who want to create a situation to discredit the government," he said.

Two bombs took place in the heart of Bangkok recently.

A hand grenade exploded near the King Power Duty Free shopping centre in Soi Rang Nam on Friday morning. One person was injured.

Another attack was on Ratchadamri Road opposite CentralWorld Mall last Sunday. One person died and ten were wounded.

D6: Hypocrisy, my comment is that what you say is true. You don't have to be a political science genius to know that a coup d' etat has become an ingrained part of the Thai political process despite what any constitution to the contrary states.

    Re discussion 2,

I think the first people to brandish weapons about and do the threatening were in fact the Thai army!!! back in 2006 and not for the first time. Your comments please.

Thaksin, his foreign backers, and UDD leaders have all insidiously threatened if the SOE isn't lifted there would be underground, violent resistance - a week before the first bomb went off.

The UDD/PTP have consistently threatened violence and then carried it out since 2009. There is no mystery or pointing of fingers when the culprits openly admit their intentions to destabilize and destroy the country.

Let's all agree that BOTH sides need to denounce violence and purge everyone from their ranks that fails to do so.

Over 90 people death and 40 missing, 2000 injured, only come up with few of those so called in black?

Naive is a pro Red speaking on behalf of them.
Why does the government need to harm their own peoples since the Red Shirts has already done a great damaged to our Nation during the 19th May Mayhelms Bombing M79,M16 rifle,RPG, Hand Grenade killing innocent peoples. So why didn't you say about the red shirts terrorist linger amount themselves have all kind of war weapons to fight the army during that period.Stop discrediting peoples if you don't have any things to proof it was done by the government to creat hater amongst thai's society.

This government has discredited themselves, they don't need outside for that.

Most Thai citizens wait for that days of justice.
