Bidding war for Carrefour's Asia stores

Britain's Tesco is among more than 10 bidders for Carrefour's assets in the region, which total 61 stores in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, the Financial Times said.

    I agree that Tesco-Lotus has only low quality Thai products like normal people in this country are used to.
    I have not visited the Lotus store in my area for years.
    you could as well help keep the old style Thai shops alive and get some human touch.

    Ref: Discussion #3. Tesco must be pretty dumb eh? Fancy building all those supermarkets then aiming them at the largest, biggest-spending part of the Thai population!
    Perhaps that is why Tesco is expanding and Carrefour Asia is offloading.

    Let's hope that Tesco doesn't get it. Tesco Lotus in Thailand is crap and aimed squarely at working class Thais, only. Carrefour has always carried better products including many gourmet and semi-gourmet European items. The one on Rama IV is particularly good.
