Obama to meet Asean leaders in New York

President Barack Obama will meet Southeast Asian leaders this month in New York, the White House said, as the United States tries to bolster its role in a region faced with a rising China.

The White House said that Obama would hold talks with leaders of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) in New York on September 24, at the time of the annual United Nations General Assembly.
