P.Thai backs CRES’ security scheme

The opposition Puea Thai Party supported the move to tighten security in Bangkok by the Centre for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES), party spokesman Jirayu Huangsap said on Saturday.

The CRES has on Friday put 464 locations in the capital deemed to be potential targets of attack under 24-hour surveillance.

The security scheme came after a grenade attack on the state-run NBT, or Channel 11, television station on Tuesday.

Mr Jirayu, when people see your PT leaders on stage protesting and causing havoc in the city of angels, you think people will want to believe in what you guys say? Maybe you should try telling 5 year olds that there is no santa clause before you say anymore.

This is politics people and good politics and I for one am happy to see PT playing real politics again. Are they serious? Who knows. Do they have a devious master plan? Maybe, but there record on devious master plans isn't too good. So let's not be too cynical and welcome back to politics, Thailand needs a real opposition. Where is the idiot Jatupoorn though?

I agree with most the other comments; this doesn't look good for Puea Thai.

Of course, PT cannot say more security is actually bad. I mean, it isn't bad if it actually stops bombs (in theory). But the whole accusation was the government was behind the attacks (or Democrat backers at least) and doing them to justify tighter security and gain more power.

PT should have taken a more middle path; not backing the security but not condemning it, either. They should have just kept their focus on the government.

    So what does this mean?

"When unrest took place, the government always blamed the red-shirt supporters of the United front for Democracy against Dictatorship."
Not true, they also blame the 'invisible hand', the '3rd hand', the 'men in black', terrorists, Thaksin, and Cambodia.

    Pretty much everyone but themselves.

Such contradictory statements make people feel helpless...

Mr. Jirayu, you make the rest of the politicians look bad. Sometimes it is better for one to not say anything...

Bomb again? These things must be cheap. People just throw them around.

If it is not the redshirts then who could it be and why would they do these bombings. Obviously they only want to create unrest as they never claim responsibility or have any demands. This has been going on since well before the redshirt rallies.

Manny, I agree but I am a little more cynical. I think there is a new plan of "silent terrorism" coming from PT, UDD and other Thaksin-funded organisations. There has been a recent increase of warnings, rumours and predictions coming from them and it is not a coincidence, just part of his strategy to instil fear and confusion in Bangkok.

But I take your point, silent terrorism is much more cost-effective than the other kind.

PT isn't even making sense anymore. They claim the army is behind the attacks then praise the army for stepping up security. Nothing makes sense, I sense they have something truly diabolical up their sleeves.
