PT stalls its own peace proposal

The Puea Thai Party executive committee will meet on Tuesday to further discuss the details of its proposal for reconciliation, party leader Yongyuth Wichaidit said on Monday.

The five-point proposal was made in a party statement released by deputy party leader Plodprasop Suraswadi last week. It calls on the government to hold talks with all parties to end political conflict.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Sunday said in his television and radio broadcast from Shanghai that Puea Thai's proposal was welcome news.

Puea Thai did not expect the government to provide a positive reply to their proposal. Now they do not know what to do... Maybe best to call Montenegro for instructions.

Yep , agree 100% with Bangkok Bob. If this was not such a serious matter it would be almost amusing as the longest soap opera in Thailand.

By implication , if the Gov does not accept their peace proposal, does this they will continue with non-peaceful means, but they just said they are peaceful so why do we need a peace plan. I'm confused.

I don't see how they can say the party isn't supporting violence as long as Jatuporn, Nattawut, etc are members. If they are not going to be honest about things, what's the point in trying to negotiate with them.
