WH concerned over Koran burning plan

The White House on Tuesday raised concern about a US church's plan to burn a Koran and backed its Afghan war commander's warning that it could put US troops at risk.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs reiterated comments by top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus.

"It puts our troops in harm's way, any type of activity like that that puts our troops in harm's way would be a concern to this administration,'' Gibbs said.

Please don't forget that the US, like many other countries, really value free speech. Good or bad. This is just a really bad example of freedom of speech. Sad...

And people wonder why I'm an atheist and berate me for it. Almost all of the major wars have been fought initially because of religion.

"But in America, there is the freedom to be ignorant," el-Amin said. "The only problem is in the world, many people don't understand that particular freedom. So what he is doing is like shouting fire in a theater, in a world theater, and people are upset."

El-Amin said Jones has boasted of never reading the Quran, so, "He doesn't know that he's going to burn a book that has some of the most beautiful passages about Christ Jesus throughout, as well as Moses, Abraham and all of the prophets he reads about and says he follows in the Bible." But he said the best strategy would be to ignore Jones, "like we do people on corners saying the end of the world is coming." - CNN

If ever and I doubt that it will be allowed to happen, then the line drawn between US and the Muslim extremist or any terrorist are perhaps seen to be on the same platform.

Shiblee #6, what are you talking about? If Muslims can leave Islam without having their throat slid, they would do so by the millions.

Have you heard of a conversion of Mosab Hassan Yousef from Islam to Christinity, the eldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, one of the Founders of Hamas? If not, I suggest you reading his book, "Son of Hamas." It will tell you that Islam is collapsing from the inside.

So this is the way Good US Christians carry on, maybe its time for the rest of us moderate christians to convert to Buddhism. No wonder there are so many whackos in the US, if they think this is the solution to the 9/11 event.

People will be more interested in Islam I think. Islam is becoming a fastest growing religion in the world, after 9/11 more and more people are accepting Islam now in the United States, you cannot hide the truth.

These handful of people are giving Christianity a bad name. Jesus said in Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God." So, does burning the Korans make peace or the opposite? Come-on, don't just talk the "talk," but let walk the "walk" as well.
