BoT told, donâ€™t block capital inflow

The Bank of Thailand (BoT) should not introduce measures to curb foreign direct investment inflow to the Thai capital market, chairman of the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organisations Paibul Narintarangkul said on Wednesday.

The central bank should allow a free-flow of foreign investment in line with capital market’s mechanism, Mr Paibul said. Once the market increases to a certain level, the foreign capital will automatically flow out.

He predicted the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index could touch the 1,000 point level by the end of this year.

The total market cap of this exchange is something like $200-$250B USD depending on the day. Smaller than XOM or AAPL. Doesn't really take a lot money to move it. Hot money leaves just as quick as it comes. Thais should build some more vacant condos with this money while its here. Stimulus, or pulling forward demand, is about done and its time for the export nations to face reality. Enjoy it while you can.

Net profits of listed Thai Companies are high simply because Thailand, has enjoyed a huge trade surplus against the west.

It's time to level the playing field on trade, i.e., if you sell me 5 Billion Dollars worth of goods, you better be ready to open your import market to my products.
