The International Energy Agency (IEA) has suggested that Thailand should reduce the risk of energy shortages by seeking oil from other sources instead of relying on the Middle East, Energy Minister Wannarat Channukul said on Wednesday.
Mr Wannarat said this after chairing a meeting on “Emergency Response Assessment (ERA) for Thailand” attened bu high ranking officials from the IEA, the Ministry of Energy and representatives from the public and private sectors.
The meeting was aimed at getting Thailand ready for any possible energy shortage. The IEA had set up a team of energy experts to review the country’s preparations for a possible energy crisis, the minister said.
