IEA advises, look to other oil sources

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has suggested that Thailand should reduce the risk of energy shortages by seeking oil from other sources instead of relying on the Middle East, Energy Minister Wannarat Channukul said on Wednesday.

Mr Wannarat said this after chairing a meeting on “Emergency Response Assessment (ERA) for Thailand” attened bu high ranking officials from the IEA, the Ministry of Energy and representatives from the public and private sectors.

The meeting was aimed at getting Thailand ready for any possible energy shortage. The IEA had set up a team of energy experts to review the country’s preparations for a possible energy crisis, the minister said.

Obviously the IEA is unaware that Thailand generally does not prepare for anything. It is more of a "let's see what happens, and take it from there" kinda country!

What a valuable advise, look for other sources for oil.

When are these "international" agencies like IEA going to wake up to the fact that there is an end to the availability of fossil fuels.

The right advise would have been: Thailand should explore other sources for electricity production than oil, like wind, tidal, solar, etc, and put a program in place for energy conservation.
