British and German airports hit by ash cloud

Germany said Tuesday it was to shut some northern airports and airlines grounded about 500 flights after ash from an Icelandic volcano swept over Britain and towards northern Europe.

Horses are gathered to be taken into the stables at Geirland Farm in Kirkjubaejarklaustur, East Iceland, as the ash from the erupting Grimsvoetn volcano fills the sky. Germany said Tuesday it was to shut some northern airports and airlines grounded about 500 flights after ash from an Icelandic volcano swept over Britain and towards northern Europe.

Barely a year after a similar eruption in Iceland forced the biggest closure of European airspace since World War II, ash-laden clouds caused flights in and out of Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland to be cancelled.

    A recent interesting email quoting scientists advised that the volcano emited more greenhouse gases in a week than humans have since their existence on earth. If so, it belies humans causing "global warming".
