Dem: Yingluck is inconsistent

Yingluck Shinawatra, the highly potential candidate for prime ministership of the Pheu Thai Party, has not been true to her words made during her campaigning on at least four matters, Democrat Party acting deputy spokesman Boonyod Sukthinthai said on Sunday.

Mr Boonyod said Ms Yingluck earlier pledged to scrap the Oil Fund, but later said her government, yet to be formed, would instead temporarily suspend contributions to the Oil Fund.

She earlier said that the Truth for Reconciliation Commission would be given a free hand to conduct its work, but later said she wanted the commission to speed up its work.  This showed a sign of her interfering in the commission's work, he said.

BP quoted and used the word 'inconsistent'. Consistency is not stubborness, inflexible, arrogant or confrontational. While keeping promises in focus, the most consistent person are those who knows how to flow with the stream. He/she will make sure that the implementation is consistent with promses made. Those who don't know or willing to listen and accept critism will not see their promises fulfill. Not all who opposed PTP's promises vote for the Dem. People look at the two and compare and decide who is capable of fulfilling their promises. As example, the Dem failed in their 'reconciliation' promise was not because they did not 'consistently' talked about it but their attitude mentioned here contributed to their failure.

I have not tried Yingluck grapes yet, but I am quite sure it will be a little sour.

The Bangkok Post is having a tough time accepting that their British born/educated Democrat got soundly defeated in this election. Therefore they must scout around for disenchanted democrats and publish this rubbish trying desperately to discredit Yingluck. She will do fine if you people will give her a chance. The people have spoken overwhelmingly.

One word to describe a loser, SOUR GRAPES.

Come on Democrat spokesman, members and leaders. There are plenty of time for all of you to grill or create problems for Yingluck and PTP. She has yet to form the government legally and all of you are so eager to make a "kill".

Your Democrat government had gone through this transition previously. So hold your horse or be labeled as "sour grapes" and many other names being thrown at Democrat face lately.

Discussion 7. You are missing the point!

Ms Yingluck offered the country a set of policies that the PTP would deliver if elected. If they change these policies they no longer have the mandate they were elected with. They haven't become the government yet and already policies are being changed, and the newly elected PTP MP's don't seem to know what the actual policies are anymore. Or should we just forget all the pre election promises and accept the post election changes!

Make politicians accountable! You criticize the DP for empty promises, but at the same time defend the PTP for the same. It seems Ms Yingluck, the DP and you all share the same tendency for inconsistency.

  • Discussion 14 : 10/07/2011 at 04:23 PM14

Ms Yingluck is not inconsistent because she is "listening to the people" and then adjusting her positions accordingly. She is inconsistent because she can't keep the fairy tale promises she made, and she is not the real leader of her party or government. As for those of you telling the Democrats and their supporters to give her a break because she's just started, the Shinawatra side never gave Abhisit a honeymoon period, so they don't deserve one either.

  • Discussion 13 : 10/07/2011 at 04:22 PM13

What a ridiculous analysis of the democratic party. Mr Abhisit spoke of freedom and democracy, but under his reign a huger number of people had been jailed for political purposes, hundred thousands of webpages had been blocked and finally snipers and military were used to repress the people demonstrating against the lack of democratic legitimacy of his government. How can such a party now put demands on the next government and its prime minster? Regarding the democratic party even its name is a joke. The call themselves democratic but want to dissolve the winner of the election in order to invalidate again the willing of the people. Finally one gets the impression that this democratic party would prefer civil war over loss of power.

Since when has there ever been a single politician (in the world) who has never been inconsistent?
