About 3.500 Thai people have signed a petition to the UN General Assembly supporting the proposal for a Palestinian state as the 194th member of the United Nations, the organisers said on Friday.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) Thailand presented the petition to the Foreign Ministry on Friday, asking that it be presented to the general assembly session beginning next week.

I also support a Palestinian state, side by side with Israel. Nonetheless, I can't support anything involving Ferriman or Ward, as their writings and postings are full of nothing but hate. Propagating hate won't bring peace to the Middle East.

I agree that there must be more than 3,500 people in Thailand who support a Palestinian state. But I can't understand why the Bangkok Post would bother to run a story on a petition that got only 3,500 signatures. That number is so low it is pathetic.

I Think the point of the Palestine government is to get as much support from the Internationnal community ( even though, Thai gov is a joke).

The more support they will get and the easier it will get to be listen to....by the "almighty" UN

In a way, it is sad because it is Palestine who had their land stolen .... And now they have to justify the robbery they have been the victims....

I think the palestanion people deserve their own state. I don’t see that Israel will ever agree to reasonable conditions so why wait for them?
@1: Yes, 3,500 people are not many, but I think it still shows that some people in Thailand care. As long as there is no larger amount of Thais who are against a palestinian state this is a least a small sign of support.

These small scale campaigns may do more harm than good. I am sure that there are hundreds of thousands of Thai citizens who would agree with this motion, but their opinion has not been accessed.
If you do not have the means to launch a wide appeal then better not to do it. 3,500 people is a very small number. Besides, who do they represent, from what region, were dissenting opinions registered?
I agree strongly with the motion, but not this way of representing it.
