PM cancels S'pore, Malaysia visits

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra announced on Sunday the cancellation of her official visits to introduce herself to Malaysia on Oct 11 and Singapore on Oct 12 because the flood situation in the country is at a critical level.

Speaking at the National Flood Relief Centre at Don Mueang airport, Ms Yingluck said she wanted attempts to discharge water and evacuation of flood-hit people in ten Central provinces to be fully integrated.

The ten provinces are Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Sawan, Chachoengsao, Pathum Thani, and Nonthaburi.

wonder if she had to wait for instructions from Dubai for this decision or she actually made a decision by herself??

Only one person in charge? Then there will be no one to pass the blame to. It will take an act of the PM to make the decission of who is to be in charge, as it will never be decided if there is any kind of choice.

Actually two excellent decisions, firstly to stay at home and manage this difficult time and secondly to ensure that there is a coordinated approach with one decision maker per province, who hopefully will talk to each other. May I also suggest that she reins in some of her political compatriots, such that they avoid making decisions based on self interest and instructs them that their contribution is to support the technical guys who are able to offer informed and unbiased advice. We may then have appropriate solutions and accountability. Once all this is over then there is a great deal to do to plan appropriate works and systems to ameliorate similiar future disasters.

Good move PM Yingluck -you are needed at home right now.

An excellent decision in light of the worst floods in recent record. She is also on track with streamlining the completely chaotic decision making systems that were in place.

Once the waters subside she needs to present a public works plan to manage and capture excess run off, store it and distribute it to the farms in times of drought.

    Getting her priority right, finally.
