Rainy season drawing to an end

The Meteorological Department announced on Tuesday that the current wet season will end about the middle of this month and a new storm being formed over the Philippines is not of concern.

Centrel Weather Forecast Division director Prawit Jaempanya said.because of the monsoon there will still be some rain, about 40-50mm, in Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Ratchaburi, Bangkok and nearby provinces, and eastern provinces of Rayong, Chon Buri, and Nakhon Nayok one or two days from now.

The rainy season will end from the middle of this month, he said.

"Mr Prawit said the Meteorological Department is not concerned about a new storm forming over the Philippines because it will be weakened by a cold wind from China."

Great prediction (as usual). This typhoon is still about 2 days away from reaching the Philippines, and even the Philippine meteorology service can't tell for sure where it will hit the country, Leyte or North-east Luzon, which is only about 1000 miles apart.

Never mind making prediction whether it will influence the weather in Thailand or not.

Rains about to end? That's the best news I've read in a while. Sick and tired of the stuff...

As the Meteorological Department has been completely wrong with previous mid and long term 'predictions' (I wouldn't call them forecasts), these are words to remember.

Let's hope this time the department is right.
