If you're in (inner city) Bangkok and your house or flat (?) is not under direct threat, just brace yourself and sit it out for a few more days or a week. It's not going the be a 2012-like floods you know - if there ever is one...

Scare-mongering and fomenting panic is what politicians and the media seem excellent at.

If people had heard this news a long time ago and taken it seriously instead of being in denial and trusting the government, or procrastinating they wouldn't be in this prediciment. I believe the officials knew full well it would come to this but they didn't want people to panic until the last minute. How will people feel when they find out there are not enough buses (for who knows how long) and all the flights out are sold for many days ahead?
