BTS: Skytrain will keep running

The Bangkok Transit System Co, operator of the elevated skytrain, said on Thursday it has no plans suspend services during the flooding.

BTS chief executive Surapong Laoha-anya said, however, that the trains may not stop at certain stations where the floodwater level is high, except when buses are arranged by agencies such as the army and city administration to take passengers to dry areas.

The BTS power supply system installed by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority is protected against water up to  2 metres  above mean sea level with walls of sandbags.  If the water is higher than 2m, the MEA would not be able to supply electricity to BTS, he said.
