Chao Phraya water level hits new high

The water level of the Chao Phraya river was measured at 2.47 metres above mean sea level this morning, Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra said Friday.
MR Sukhumbhand said after inspecting the water level from Phra Pinklao bridge to Siriraj Hospital that the Chao Phraya had risen to a new high.The governor said he agreed with the government's Flood Relief Operations Centre's plan to dig channels across five major roads in an attempt to improve the flow of the massive volume of floodwater bearing down on the capital's inner areas out to sea.However, the plan should be carried out cautiously as it could affect people living near the five roads, he said.The roads are Pracha Ruam Jai, Rat Uthit Road, Suwinthawong Road,...
