This is hardly breaking news on the 1/1/11 ? I live on soi 48 and there isn't a drop here barriers were repaired days ago, just trashy journalism and miss information...again!!

This is not as worrying as the main floods because this has alearedy receded but not anywhere else

The flooding in Sukhumvit soi 50 was caused by higher than normal tides from the Gulf of Thailand, and had nothing to do with the flood waters bearing down from the north. For example, the media is warning people living near the Chao Praya River to be careful around 10:30 tomorrow morning(30th)when the tide will be the highest. After the tide reaches its highest, there is a period when the water sits, then starts to recede. So depending on the time you were in soi 50 yesterday, you may not have seen any water.

Good luck to all that you stay dry and if not dry that the waters recede quickly .

i was in sukhumvit soi 50 yesterday, at about 1pm and it was flooded. but it was thankfully less than about 10 cm, though i saw 1 shophouse (on soi 50, and below ground level) waist high in water. the area around the north end of soi 50 (by the tesco lotus) was completely dry, but heading about 1km south into the soi i saw the start/end of the flooding, which was near the entrance to waterford. it appeard to me that the floodwater was coming up soi 50 from the south end of the soi. i was there again today near the entrance to waterford at about 1pm and there was NO sign of any flooding, and all the floodwaters from yesterday had disappeared including from the shophouse that was waist high in water yesterday

I'll keep my fingers crossed then John. BTW, it was the West(Chao Phraya)side of the pumping station that flooded. But only at high water in the morning, not for long, and ceased when they restored the fortification. They had a bit of a flood there on Monday too. Good luck

Strange. I was on the north bank where it crosses Sukhumvit between 48 and 50 and saw nothing on either side, not even a puddle.

What concerns me mor immediately is that the bank of the canal near my condo seems to be "leaking" - water is coming up from underground and into the drains, for now.

John, I can assure you it was/is there. My mate lives near the Waterford on 50. I live in 48 which admittedly appeared untouched.

    Disc#2 The Dark Side

It's very nice to hear your story. I hope this flood disaster will eventually bring Thai People together no matter what color and policy, no matter from urban or rural areas. We all need each other. Everybody in this Country should understand that it's only the elite who wants, and is trying to divide People.

This must be a very old storey. I went to Khlong Phra Khanong between soi 48-50 at 4:30 pm, and stood on the bank. Not a sign of a flood anywhere, everything dry, no relief workers.
