Brace until month end

Froc GIS expert Dr Anond Sanitwong reiterated this evening in a live NBT telecast that all hands must cooperate to make sure that all flood protection walls not breached throughout the high tide period in the next few days.

He admitted that the government's water management capability could not handle big mass of water on the Thonburi side. Expect to see widespread floods in all districts of Thonburi.

He was not too worried that the high tide would inflict any lasting damages in the business district in Bangkok as any breach in the flood wall would be contained to local area such was the case in Sukhumvit Rd earlier today. BMA has the capability to drain such localised water overflowing Chao Phraya bank in a few hours.

    Dr. Anond Sanitwong made the following statement;
    "The flood situation in the North will be gradually drained off via various canals in the East to Samut Prakan and BMA's inner canals to Chao Phraya river."
    The last I heard about the path through East klong/canals were;
    Down from Lam Luka, through Nong Chok Town, down Klong Chalong ( possibly taking out Lat Krabang Industrial Estate ( 70,000 workers ), then past King Mongkot University ( flooded? ), then past Eastern edge of Suvarnanabhumi ( will it flood? ), then lnking canals/klongs to eventually come out in Samrong. It it too far to take the water when there is no elevation change to help the flow.

    Sounds better news, but would you buy a used car from one of these froc guys? Pretty much accurate about Thonburi. They are going to be in a bad way. Still cannot believe this thing about taking a lot of the water by the East. It has got too far to go with lammina flow, same elevation. It needs hugh amount of blocking ( flood an area ), then pumping to get the water flowing to a lower level. Repeat over & over for many kilometeres (and flooding where it is held). It is possibly same elevation in Lam Luka as it is in Samrong canal. Hard to get it to flow there over 100? kilometers on the path they have described. Just dump it into the Chayo Phraya on most direct route. Otherwise all this water will still be around by end of 2011.
