N.Pathom flood threatens Thon Buri

Floodwater from Nakhon Pathom poses a new threat to parts of Thon Buri, which is already struggling to drain water out to the Tha Chin River, Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra said on Monday afternoon.

Bang Kae district, which borders Nakhon Pathom province, is under a close watch by City Hall, which on Sunday night asked the Royal Irrigation Department to speed up diverting water to the Tha Chin River as this month's period of peak high tides is ending.

The water  in the Chao Phraya River has dropped with the highest level measured at 2.44 metres above mean sea level late this morning, compared with 2.53 metres on Sunday.

Government should have diverted more water to the East, since east has more drainage facilities. They are not doing so because the last few big Industrial Parks are in the East. Another big mistake by the government for not diverting water to all areas to increase the drainage and flow from the North.
