PM: It won't get any worse

The flooding in Bangkok is unlikely to get any worse than it is now, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Monday.

She said that if all the watergates were now controlled, the water level would stabilise over the next day ot two.

The floodgate at  Khlong Sam Wa would be operated systematically to make sure the Lat Krabang and Bang Chan industrial estates in the east were not affected.

Will this be a case of "Bad Luck" when she is again wrong? The massive amounts of water that still have to pass Bangkok is only part of the crisis. The health risks are very real, and could result in much more loss of life than these floods have if there is poor planning to deal with them too.

It is way to early to even mention that the most important issue is dealing with a water management system for the future, or fuel pipelines, or a land bridge....ummm. Is he blind to what is happening now, and needs to be dealt with. There are much more pressing issues that have to be dealt with now.

I really wonder what the fuel pipe line and the land bridge has to do with the flood problems. It seems to me that the politicians believe that the problems are no longer critical and they can return to their favourite hobby horses.

Help me out here. Where does China have an annual flood problem that they so expertly control. The Netherlands truly know take care of things. The US has a few areas and the expertise. Hooking up with the Chinese will spell disaster for the Thais. Don't believe me? look around at what the Chinese are stealing from African Countries. If there is nothing of value to be gained China will not get invloved.

"The flooding in Bangkok is unlikely to get any worse than it is now, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Monday." Kind of scary, can we trust what she said?

PM Yingluck: “The flooding in Bangkok is unlikely to get any worse…”
I think I read almost the same words on Monday the 17th October 2011 – after the “critical” weekend. If she will repeat this message often enough it will be true one of these day – the only question is when?

I think the headline "it won't get any worse" and verbatim "is unlikely to get any worse than it is now" send two very different messages. Not particularly reassuring for those poor souls with over 8 billion cubic meters of water behind them. Lets hope for the best and pray the headline is correct.
