Nothing 'can threaten Bangkok now'

Asst Prof Dr Sombat Yumeang of Chulalongkorn University's director of Centre of GIS Research for Thailand on Tuesday night TNN 24 tv flood analysis sees nothing can threaten central and inner Bangkok now.

Even though Big Bag is allowed to act as a weir letting more floodwater in, the waterflow rate poses no problem for Bangkok Metropolitan Authority's drainage capacity right now. More and more formerly flooded areas in Bangkok North are beginning to dry.

Dr Sombat said he could not see anything threaten Bangkok's inner and central areas now.

    D12, Lancelot,

I mentioned 2006 because it triggered everything else in your list except the flooding.

But I'm sure there are people that will claim that Abhisit would have done something in flood prevention if he hadn't been harrassed by the Reds all the time.

amerman D10: Bangkok is the 'navel', the 'rest' is unimportant (my loc. approx 5km south of Bang Yai, N: 13° 49' 41" - E: 100° 23' 39", flood level approx. 1.2m, kind of stable since a week)

Bangkok? What about the people in the north of Bangkok. They have been under water for a month now with nothing done to relieve the water. This goverment is a farce. I say tear down the big bag wall and stop drowning the people in the north. Enough is Enough.

'nothing can threaten Bangkok now' - GREAT! ... but it is slowly becoming the first capital, located on an island - sepatared by 'strange waters' from the rest of the nation.

NOTHING "can threaten Bangkok now" until the end of 2011 : YES...

    But let us remember !
    2008 : Yellow disaster....Souwannaphoom strike
    2009 : 1st red dister....Asean meeting strike
    2010 : 2nd red disater....burning of Bangkok
    2011 : natural disaster....flooding
    2012 : politic disaster....amnesty of TAKSIN

  • Discussion 6 : 16/11/2011 at 08:14 AM6

Bangkok has no more to worry about water flooding, but has to worry about demonstrators flooding. For welcome the arrival of Man of Dubai, pro and anti TAKSIN are going to inundate the streets of the capital. The year 2012 will be a politic disaster...
