US jobless claims dip to 3-year low

New claims for US unemployment benefits fell sharply last week to the lowest level in more than three years, official data showed Thursday, confirming recent signs of healing in the labor market.

New claims for US unemployment benefits fell sharply last week to the lowest level since April 2008.

Initial jobless claims dropped to 352,000 in the week ending January 14, a decline of 50,000 from the prior week's revised figure of 402,000, the Labor Department said.

    @Disc 2 - Same for Spain where unemployment is at a staggering 20%. In general Europe is doing very bad due to Greece and some neighboring countries that are defaulting.

    Thats good. In the Uk the jobless is at a 17 year high and will increase. Its a record high for the young jobless people in the UK.More businesses going into liquidation everyday. Armed forces being cut by 4200. Government cuts pensions for all government employees, All medical unions are against such, and retirement age up to 68, for said people.Changes to health system opposed as it will cost more. What more can be said the UK is in recession again also.The UK is failing.
    worse to come.To quote some leaders 'they will go ahead with the changes anyway' Many people in the Uk are in dire straights, many now have lost there homes as they have no work. soon the UK will be bankrupt.
