China jails fugitive millionaire for 15 yrs

A Chinese millionaire who fled the country in 2004 to escape fraud charges was sentenced to 15 years in jail on Friday, his lawyer said.

This handout photo released by Sam Zeng on January 19, shows Zeng Hanlin at his home in Markham, Canada's Ontario province. This Chinese millionaire who fled the country in 2004 to escape fraud charges was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in jail on January 20, in southwest China's Chengdu city, according to his lawyer.

Zeng Hanlin, 66, spent seven years in Canada, but was deported in March after authorities there dismissed concerns he would be tortured or executed if he returned to China.

The Thai government is much better than this! Here the government welcomes back a billionaire who has been convicted of fraud and massive corruption, and who has several outstanding criminal cases waiting for him. Furthermore, it is trying to wipe clean his crime sheet so that it can make him Prime Minister again, and then the gravy train will really move up the gears! China discourages and punishes corruption whereas Thailand rewards it. As Bernard Trink used to say, TIT.
