2011 exports exceed target

The value of Thai exports for 2011 grew above the set target of 15 per cent to 17.2 per cent despite the impact of the recent great flood, Yanyong Puangrat, permanent secretary for commerce, said on Friday.

Total exports were valued at US$228.82 billion, up 17.2 per cent year-on-year, Mr Yanyong said.

Imports for last year stood at US$228.49 billion, an increase of 24.9 per cent on 2010. This meant a trade surplus of US$335 million in 2011, he said.

I called their bluff. This has to be the biggest lie in decades. It was only end of last year that they said total exports was down. Especially with 7 main industrial parks being flooded for 3 months, you can even think with your feet to know that exports is down.

Does anyone believe numbers from the Thai Government?
