School bus overturns in Saraburi

A school bus carrying 62 students crashed and flipped onto its side in Saraburi’s Muak Lek district on Friday evening, injuring 40 passengers.

Officials said the crash happened just before 6pm on the inbound lane of Mittraparb Road at kilometre marker 28 when the road was slippery from a rain shower.

The bus driver identified as Praset Jaikrasan, 55, lost control going around a curve, went off the road, hit a Bodhi tree and flipped the bus onto its side, police said.

The fact that this is happening on a regular basis is frightening for a parent who has a child in a Thai school. Too often you see these buses/coaches going passed at break-neck speed with load music blaring out and small children handing out the windows. How in the world are these drivers getting a job driving a bus full of children and having the responsibility of care?

lost control - means driving too fast for the prevailing road conditions, and putting children at risk. Once again an example of careless bus driving.

How many kids are allowed in one bus?
