China lifts Thailand travel alert

China has revoked its travel warning for Thailand, issued last week amid fears of a possible terrorist attack, Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said on Friday.

Mr Surapong said the revocation came after he and Prime Minster Yingluck Shinawatra attended a Chinese New Year event at the Chinese Embassy on Wednesday and asked Ambassador Guan Mu to lift the travel alert.

Mr Guan promised to discuss Ms Yingluck’s request with Beijing, Mr Surapong said.
