Court petitioned against B2bn compo

A group of people in Khon Kaen province calling themselves the network of volunteers against corruption on Monday filed a petition with the Khon Kaen Administrative Court, asking that it order the revocation of a cabinet resolution of Jan 10, 2012 to set aside 2 billion baht to compensate for victims of political violence from 2005-2010.

The petition also asked the court to issue an injunction blocking the cabinet resolution pending a court ruling on this matter.

Tul Prasertsilp, a core member of the network, said compensation for the red-shirts of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) was tantamount to a payment for those taking part in illegal and violent rallies involving use of lethal weapons which took place throughout the country from 2008 to 2010 in violation of the law, including the 2007 constitution, the Criminal Code and the emergency decree.

The court has refused to hear this same kind of petition filed by the DEM party last week. Once again Tul is filing a similar petition to court again!

D6 : Good question but don't hold your breath while waiting for a reply.

Keep up the pressure Khun Tul !

Disc 5 - I agree. In any western Country we would be asking "Tul who?".

Disc 6 - How many were shot by the flood under questionable conditions but nice spin.

I made this point in a previous discussion, but it seems appropriate here also. I seem to remember that deaths caused by flooding are being compensated at THB25,000 per head, and THB50,000 if they were the family bread-winner. Can anyone from the government please come on here and explain to us all why people engaged in arguably criminal activity - and it may yet be deemed as such by the courts - are somehow worth THB7,000,000+ compared to THB25,000 for people who were totally innocent and victims of government incompetence (or was it something more sinister?)

This guy, Tul Prasertsilp, a core member of the network, seem to a lot in the News and he seem constantly to be engaging in law suits against the Government ... I wonder who is paying this guy ... not entirely free to make lawsuits even in Thailand .... as far as I remember then also the DEM made a lawsuit on this matter ....anyway looking forward to see how that ends..

Terrorist should be in prison, not rewards with billions.

The people who need to be payed are the poor shopkeepers who lost money to the redshirt violence.
where are the payments to them?!? Instead you are in essence paying off your hired thugs with government money. What does that say about Thailand?

I could not agree more....first paying terrorists to occupy burn and loot the cities for political gain and later having the shameful guts to reward them a second time for their actions with the honest taxpayers' money are practices of a zoo; not a civilized society!

When people look back on why this Thaksin government did not last its 4 years, this silly, provocative piece of legislation will be included in the list.
