Flood aid tops govt to-do list

Helping flood-hit people and delivering on promises of wage increases top the list of the 10 priorities for the reshuffled cabinet of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, a survey shows.

All the comments below are very good. PTP is very slow in doing any task except trying to bring Thaksin back. What task has the PTP done in the first 6 months?

I like how education ,protecting the environment, reconciliation and getting rid of corruption are at the bottom instead of the top .Drain the dams and do anything to get ready fort his years floods .

Surprising that people still live in hope that they are going to get that B300/day that Thaksin promised to win the election.

geoffo, I will bet my life that they are buying TS through China and the wifi will be delivered through AIS (also through TS). The Flood deal is through TS as you must know he spouted off about a big flood prevention plan long ago utilizing Chinese Know How (what a damn joke in itself) and allowing them to trample through Thailand as part of some sort of scheme that will net TS big baht and give away Thai goods and properties. Watch and wait, I ain't wrong 1%

With the privatization of PTT Plc. there will never be anymore fuel subsidies allowed, and payed for by the government. With them being made a private public company, and not government owned, it will be illegal to subsidize fuel so prices can only go up, never stabilize.

re #8 tablet PC's : on the radio this week-

PTP announced they are buying tablets from the Chinese (not Thai)

They need to double the hardware budget now as they need a higher spec.( another 1.6 Billion)

They want WiFi to every school (33,000 of them ) so the total project cost will quadruple.

They decided kids can take the tablets home daily. (I think a childless official made this decision )

Did they make any comment about next year and the year after? - no comment

The 2012 floods most likely is already in progress and no-one seems to notice. Most dams are at all time high for this dry seasons and time of year and no-one is planning to release the waters "now". All eager to wait and receive the usual 2-3 rice etc crops earnings later throughout the year, instead of doing what has to been done; now. Sad really that pre-thinking and planning ahead is not really a thing we Thais have in our veins. And all these corrupt politicians (especially in PT but not only) can't waiting to get their money on the big flood cake investment. Sad really ....
