Two men were killed in a rear-end collision involving six large vehicles on the Kanchanaphisek Expressway in Samut Prakan province on Saturday.

The accident occurred at the 6.9-kilometre marker near an exit ramp to Theparak Road in tambon Theparak of Muang district at 5pm.A private bus, three 6-wheel trucks and two 18-wheel trucks were involved in the crash.Killed in the accident were Prasob Sorhharnkla, 40, a driver in one of the 6-wheel trucks, and his passenger, Wasanchai Litbamroong, 24. Police said the six vehicles were all driving in the far right...

what this country needs is traffic control police with proper training, appropriate patrol cars, and SOBER officers patrolling the streets,and proper signage and traffic safety education in the schools

We all see this type of thing everyday on Thailands roads, tailgateing, speeding, overtaking when there is on coming traffic. Perhaps the inside lane should be for trucks etc only and they are never allowed out of the inside lane by law. Buses the next lane with cars, etc, the fast lane is for cars only. Speed cameras, tachy meters, etc also used.

The means to solve the problems and to reduce these horrific accidents are there, but the real problem is the lack of cultural and political will to solve it. Forcing drivers to prove better driving skill, introducing tachographs for professional traffic (passenger and cargo) with mandatory control, improving meaningfully traffic regulations and signage, enforce rest-hours for commercial drivers, etc. etc., would definitely bring a strong lasting reduction of accidents, but it would also would reduce the “tax-free income” for the police officers.

Almost everybody drives far too close together, and much too fast. Sadly I think this is a worldwide problem, not unique to Thailand. Trucks here are meant to be limited to 60/80 KPH, depending on the road type, but virtually ALL totally ignore the rules and simply go as fast as they can. Maybe this will make a few of them think, but we should not hold our breath.

In theory Trucks should never drive in the 'fast' lane, but of course they are so big they just go wherever they please. Who is going to stop them ? Cameras could help, if enforced !!

An investigation is under way to identify the cause of the accident.

The cause of the accident is obvious, following too closely,aka "tailgating"

Speeding kills, don't all drivers knows that. Letting 6 &18Wheeler and Bus running on the outer laner is always waiting for disaster to happen
