TU rector in hot seat

A Pheu Thai MP has slammed the rector of Thammasat University for barring the Nitirat group from using the university premises to pursue a campaign to amend the lese majeste law.

The decision could lead to more unrest if the group is forced to mobilise support for its views outside the institution, said Sanguan Pongmane, a Pheu Thai MP for Lamphun.

Speaking in his capacity as a political activist, he said the Nitirat movement, comprising seven Thammasat law lecturers, was not wrong and should not be forbidden from using the university’s grounds, to which it had confined its activities so far.
